VSP FlexTechTM
Effective January 1, 2026, eligible members can use the FlexTech enhancement for technology-enabled eyewear, creating coverage flexibility and access to modern eyewear options.
Eligibility
Eligible members will be indicated with coverage details on the Patient Record Report under Plan Details with the heading of Tech Eyewear.
Materials Coverage
Frames
Coverage can include all brands or be limited to specific Tech Eyewear brands (refer to the Patient Record Report). Apply the patient's FlexTech allowance to the cost of the frames.
- Material co-pay does not apply.
- No discount on overage.
- Patient pays the amount above their allowance.
- Bill with RS modifier only when a technology-enabled frame is dispensed.
Lenses
- Standard lens coverage applies, please see Patient Record Report.
- FlexTech allowance applies to frame only.
Submitting Claims
When submitting claims for FlexTech, include modifier RS on the appropriate service line (e.g., frame) to indicate the member selected technology enabled eyewear.
- Do not include the modifier if standard eyewear was selected.
Reimbursement
For all eligible FlexTech claims for technology enabled eyewear, you’ll be reimbursed your U&C fee up to the patient’s FlexTech allowance. Your patient pays the amount above their allowance. See Patient Record Report for details.
